British Museum Bayeux Tapestry Ticket Sales Hit $3.3M Record

On July 1, the British Museum achieved a record by generating £2.5 million ($3.3 million) in ticket sales for its forthcoming exhibition of the Bayeux Tapestry. This remarkable tapestry, which illustrates the Battle of Hastings, has not been seen in Britain for nearly a millennium. It is scheduled to be displayed at the museum from September 2026 to July 2027. On the day tickets went on sale, approximately 80,000 individuals tried to secure a reservation, resulting in wait times of up to nine hours. Tickets for 2026 are already sold out, but additional tickets for 2027 will be available in October. The Independent reported this news.
