Brian Michael Weaver Creates Political Maze Artworks Inspired by Current Events

Illustrator and cartoonist Brian Michael Weaver has shifted from children's content to producing large-scale satirical crowd scenes addressing contemporary American politics. His recent works include the Insurrection Maze and ICE Invasion Maze, which depict real events through densely packed visual narratives. Weaver cites Martin Handford's Where's Waldo? books as a major influence, using similar search-and-find techniques to engage viewers with political commentary. He begins each piece by identifying key moments or characters, then builds compositions around them, incorporating events like the January 6 Capitol attack and immigration enforcement incidents. The artist intends these works to be viewed online, in print, and as jigsaw puzzles, aiming to encourage closer examination of real-world issues through humor and detail. Weaver is currently developing another piece titled The Trump Fuck-Ups Maze, focusing on various controversies from recent years.
