American artist Brendan Pattengale, born in 1984 in Los Angeles, creates landscape photography that deliberately blurs the line with painting. His work abandons documentary approaches for perceptual reinterpretations of remote locations, including Chile, Bolivia, Iceland, and the Mojave Desert. Pattengale employs unconventional techniques like motion blur and colored lenses to transform real vistas into compositions resembling watercolors or painted scenes. He earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Davis.
