Brenda Cabrera Brings 'La pesca' to El Apartamento's Madrid Project Room
Cuban artist Brenda Cabrera showcases her inaugural solo exhibition, La pesca, at El Apartamento in Madrid, which will be open until October 31, 2026. This collection features her latest paintings that delve into the essence of humanity and the dynamics of societal power. Cabrera reinterprets the traditional significance of fishing as a respectful interaction with nature, introducing Prototipos: hybrid entities that challenge the distinctions between human and natural worlds. Her creations intertwine elements of science, ritual, and ecological wisdom, allowing fish to serve as conversational partners. A native of Havana, Cabrera completed her studies at the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro in 2017 and the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in 2022. She has participated in international exhibitions and was awarded the VOX Libera Prize at ARTBO in 2024.
