Brazil Votes: Photo Gallery Captures First Round of General Election
In the initial round of Brazil's general election, more than 158 million citizens were permitted to cast their votes, with polling places available both domestically and internationally. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva cast his ballot in Sao Bernardo do Campo, while Flávio Bolsonaro, representing the Partido Liberal, voted alongside his wife in Rio de Janeiro. Supporters of Lula congregated in downtown Rio to witness the vote-counting process. In Sao Gabriel, farm worker Herlon Saquetto and his grandson got ready to vote, while Daniela Cruz Gomes, an Indigenous woman from the Kambeba community, participated in the election in Manaus. Soldiers were stationed at Leblon beach, and a Brazilian citizen voted from Florida. Various photographers, including André Borges and Mariana Greif, captured the events.
