Brandi Milne's Artistic Evolution: From Party to Purpose

Brandi Milne, a Huntington Beach-based artist, reflects on her career spanning over fifteen years, marked by a shift from a frenetic pace to deliberate introspection. Her early work in the 2000s involved showing at Los Angeles events like Cannibal Flower and Create::Fixate, and venues such as The Hive Gallery. A pivotal moment came with the group exhibition 'We're All Mad Here' at Gallery1988 in Los Angeles, where her three watercolor acrylic pieces sold, catching the attention of publisher Baby Tattoo, which later released all three of her books. In 2018, she celebrated the tenth anniversary of her first book, 'So Good for Little Bunnies,' with a special edition. Her most recent solo show, 'Once Upon a Quiet Kingdom' at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles in 2017, took three years to prepare and marked a turning point, featuring works like 'Is Life Like This for Everyone?' and 'Death Song (Portrait of the Artist’s Mother, in Death)' that explored grief and personal growth. Milne's color palette evolved from muted tones to bold reds, pinks, blues, and greens, reflecting increased self-awareness. She was preparing for a solo show in fall 2019 at Dorothy Circus in Rome. Her painting 'Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf' was shown in the group exhibition 'Art of Female' at Burgundy Room Gallery in Los Angeles. Milne's work fuses personal and universal themes, drawing from vintage toys, design, holiday decorations, nature, and sweets.
