Boscaini and Materassi's 'Lessicogramma dell’abitare' Opens at Spazio Piera in Trento

The artistic duo Paola Boscaini and Cristina Materassi present their participatory installation 'Lessicogramma dell’abitare' at Spazio Piera in Trento, running from June 6 to July 5, 2026. Curated by Elisa Pezza, the work is a culmination of their ongoing project 'Corrispondenze', which since 2021 has collected words and reflections from communities across Italian cities in response to the question: 'What does it mean for you to inhabit a space?' The installation functions as a traversable thesaurus, inviting visitors to create their own pathways through the collected lexicon, thereby expanding the archive. Boscaini and Materassi, both 29 and graduates of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and the Accademia Albertina di Torino, describe their practice as a 'mobile duo' centered on encounter and dialogue. The work was previously presented at Antro in Turin. In an interview, the artists discuss their nomadic methodology, their divergence from historical avant-garde movements like the Situationists, and the political implications of their collaborative authorship. They highlight the challenges of Italy's art system, particularly the lack of sustained economic support for emerging artists, and the importance of independent spaces like Antro and Spazio Piera in fostering cultural networks.
