Boonserm Premthada's Traces by the Sea Office Rises on Reclaimed Timber in Khao Lak
The Bangkok Project Studio, led by Boonserm Premthada, has finalized Traces by the Sea, a 440.7-square-meter office space for Matalay located in Khao Lak, Phang Nga, Thailand. This building incorporates timber reclaimed from an old rice cooperative in Phatthalung and a wooden school in Phang Nga, maintaining the original paint and weathered textures. Carpenters crafted the wood on-site, allowing for a blend of old and new connections. The design comprises four timber structures connected by decks, featuring openings for breezes and ocean vistas, along with elevated floors for shade. Large woven bamboo trays act as sunshades. Prior to the timber buildings, a public toilet constructed from elephant dung bricks and Goya Tower were established. Spaceshift Studio captured images of the project.
