Bonetti/Kozerski and Kelly Behun bring residential design to Benetti Oasis yachts

Nine years ago, Italian shipbuilder Benetti tasked architecture firm Bonetti/Kozerski, under the direction of Enrico Bonetti, with reimagining the interiors of its new Oasis series. Rather than opting for a yacht specialist, Benetti chose architects lacking yacht experience to disrupt traditional norms. Bonetti/Kozerski treated the yacht like a residence, integrating continuous teak decking, expansive glazing, and high-gloss white lacquer sourced from a piano manufacturer. The Oasis 40M, introduced in 2020, emerged as one of Benetti's top-selling models, leading to the creation of a 34m variant and the Oasis 42M, with over 50 units produced. Interior designer Kelly Behun, based in New York, crafted the interiors of a recent Oasis 40M, enhancing the residential feel for an owner also building a vacation home in Comporta, Portugal. Behun emphasized comfort with warm wood paneling, gentle lighting, and softly contoured furniture, reflecting a trend in luxury design that favors personal, layered environments over mere status symbols. Bonetti notes that ideas once considered avant-garde have now become standard in yacht design.
