BOND Crafts Complete Branding for Helsinki Restaurant Roster

BOND Creative Agency designed the entire branding system for Roster, a new restaurant in central Helsinki. Chefs Kari Aihinen and Paul Hickman opened Roster to move away from rigid fine dining conventions, creating a lively space focused on good food and great wine. BOND handled naming, interiors, and all branding assets. The visual identity mixes refined and playful elements: polished brass and dark blue velvet appear alongside warm timber tables, hand-picked design pieces, and custom furniture, avoiding cold Scandinavian minimalism. A custom display typeface, drawn with sharp angles and quirky serif cuts, anchors the branding. Large black window awnings display the name outside, while inside the bold lettering appears on printed menus paired with a clean sans-serif for items and prices. Animated letter clips bring motion to digital screens and video reels. Print materials include dining menus on heavy black paper with bright gold foil stamping, and kitchen aprons in black canvas with solid brass rings and gold stitched logos. Tattoo-style illustrations of quirky birds and maritime icons decorate coasters, matchboxes, and cards. Three short films document the kitchen and dining floor, demonstrating how the branding shapes the guest experience. The project was featured on Behance.
