architecture-design · 2026-07-16

Extrastudio has unveiled the Blue House, the first of three planned residences known as "casas pobres," located in Portugal. Spanning 251 square meters, this home embodies a distinct, minimalist aesthetic developed amid a challenging context. The project was spearheaded by a collaborative team, including João Caldeira Ferrão and Sónia Oliveira, with construction managed by Vassalo & Sousa and landscape design by Oficina dos Jardins. Patrícia Dias and Artur Portugal commissioned the creation, while Susanna Moreira curated the initiative. Photographers Mikael Olsson and José Pedro Marques documented the structure’s striking, raw design.
