Billy Easter's Gel Lamp Uses Silicone Slides to Change Color

architecture-design · 2026-09-22

Last month, London designer Billy Easter unveiled the Gel Lamp through her studio, Public Parts. This cubic lamp, with dimensions of 11.5 cm on each side, is crafted from silicone and includes a dimmable LED base. Users can customize the lamp's hue by placing translucent gel slabs into a designated slot. Drawing inspiration from photography gels, Easter utilized 3D-printed molds and meticulously hand-finished each piece. The accessible light source allows for easy replacement, enhancing the lamp's longevity. Retailing at £375, it includes two interchangeable gel slabs and is produced in limited quantities. Easter highlights its artistic form, which remains striking even when not illuminated. Public Parts also features various silicone home and personal items.
