BIGX Super Sports Playground: Digital Landscape Through Steel, Light, and Color

Fun Connection Design (Funconn) has finalized the BIGX Super Sports Playground located in Qianwan Incity, Shanghai, China. Spanning 2,700 sqm, this indoor sports facility redefines the conventional playground, presenting it as a 'Digital Sports Innovation Lab' that merges digital culture, industrial aesthetics, and interactive spatial systems. Departing from typical color schemes, the design features Digital Blue as the dominant hue, complemented by Signal Orange at structural junctions and interactive points to guide users visually. Key architectural elements include exposed steel trusses, metal mesh, and translucent materials, highlighted by three main vertical structures: the BIGX viewing twin towers and a vertical competition tower. The project embodies themes of technology, competition, and punk aesthetics, seamlessly integrating sports, entertainment, and digital design. Tim Zhang serves as the design director, with chief design by Zhu Qian, product design by Pang Zhedong and Zheng Ying, and lighting design provided by Hangzhou Ruisheng Lighting Technology Co., Ltd.
