BIG Unveils National Juneteenth Museum Design in Fort Worth

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has released new images of the National Juneteenth Museum, a 72,000-square-foot institution in Fort Worth, Texas. Designed with Alligood Song Architecture and KAI Enterprises, construction begins fall 2026. The museum, led by activist Dr. Opal Lee, features a mass timber structure with a 'nova star' courtyard inspired by the Juneteenth flag. Located in the Historic Southside, it includes a business incubator, food hall, theater, and flexible event spaces. The design references local gabled rooflines and front porches, with five street-level entrances and a circular circulation route. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021. The Obama Presidential Center recently opened in Chicago. BIG also unveiled a STEM campus in Bentonville, Arkansas, and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville.
