BIG stacks classrooms and pitched roofs across two new Madrid university buildings

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has designed two new buildings for the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, Spain. The Academic Center features four horizontal bars stacked with the central pair rotated 45 degrees, creating a triangular footprint and a shaded plaza beneath. It houses around thirty classrooms, hybrid learning rooms, and shared study areas. The Central Administrative Building comprises four gabled volumes arranged around a planted courtyard, with a continuous ramp looping through the levels. Both buildings, covering a combined 8,500 square meters, emphasize circulation as social space, with corridors, ramps, terraces, and courtyards designed for interaction. The Academic Center uses pale concrete, full-height glazing, and wood-lined interiors, while the administrative building features blue herringbone flooring, pale walls, and metal ceilings. Partners in charge are Agustin Perez-Torres and Bjarke Ingels, with Mireia Sala Font as project manager.
