BIG and Lutsko Associates to Expand Sea Ranch Lodge with New Spa and 23 Guest Rooms
The Sea Ranch Lodge is set for expansion, with a new spa and 23 guest rooms, as revealed by Kristina Jetton, the general manager of the Sea Ranch Association. This project, located three hours north of San Francisco, will feature guest rooms designed by BIG around courtyards and a redwood-faced spa, incorporating the Sea Ranch logo created by Barbara Stauffacher Solomon. Bjarke Ingels expressed that the design seeks "evolution rather than revolution," maintaining a conversation with The Sea Ranch Design Committee. Critics such as Oliver Wainwright and Owen Hatherley have voiced their opposition to BIG's role. Originally developed by Al Boeke and others, Sea Ranch now boasts over 2,000 homes. The lodge underwent renovations in 2023 after being sold to investors in 2018.
