Biennale Arte 2024: National Pavilion Artists Announced

The 60th Venice Biennale, curated by Adriano Pedrosa under the theme 'Stranieri Ovunque' (Foreigners Everywhere), opens April 20, 2024. National pavilions have revealed their artists and curators. Key highlights include: Archie Moore (Australia) with 'kith and kin'; Kapwani Kiwanga (Canada); Julien Creuzet (France); John Akomfrah (UK); Jeffrey Gibson (US), the first Indigenous artist to represent the US; Glicéria Tupinambá (Brazil); and Manal AlDowayan (Saudi Arabia). The Benin Republic participates for the first time. The Vatican pavilion, 'Con i miei occhi,' is hosted at the Giudecca women's prison, featuring Maurizio Cattelan and others. The Cameroon pavilion aims for Carbon Net Zero. The Danish pavilion presents Inuuteq Storch, the first native Greenlander. The Spanish pavilion is represented by Sandra Gamarra Heshiki, the first foreign-born artist for Spain. The US pavilion is co-curated by Kathleen Ash-Milby (Navajo Nation). The Holy See's pavilion focuses on human rights.
