Bertille Bak's First Swiss Museum Solo Show at Museo Vincenzo Vela

Bertille Bak's first solo exhibition in a Swiss museum, 'Voix de la terre' (Voices of the Earth), runs from April 26, 2026 to January 10, 2027 at the Museo Vincenzo Vela in Ligornetto, Switzerland. The show, curated with director Antonia Nessi, features videos, drawings, and installations that engage with labor and exploitation. Key works include 'Mineur Mineur' on child miners in Bolivia, Madagascar, India, Thailand, and Indonesia; 'Boussa from the Netherlands' on shrimp shipped to Morocco for peeling and returned to the Netherlands; and 'Nature morte' (2023-2026) on the flower trade from Colombia to France. The exhibition dialogues with Vincenzo Vela's 1882-1883 relief 'Les victimes du travail,' commemorating workers who died building the Gotthard railway tunnel. A parallel documentary section covers the tunnel's construction with works by Adolphe Braun. A publication with texts by Nessi and Mohamed El Khatib accompanies the show.
