Belvedere Reading Circle Explores Sci-Fi, AI, and Society

The Belvedere museum in Vienna is hosting a reading circle titled 'Science-Fiction zwischen Kunst, KI und Gesellschaft' (Science Fiction between Art, AI and Society) in conjunction with the exhibition 'Miao Ying. Come, Sit, Stay.' The event will explore literary perspectives on artificial intelligence, digital cultures, and societal futures. Participants will read and discuss the short story 'By Those Hands' by Congyun 'Mu Ming' Gu. The discussion will be led by Vina Yun, a freelance journalist who writes about (post-)migration, anti-Asian racism, pop culture, and labor. Yun also authored the 2017 comic 'Homestories' about Korean labor migration to Austria in the 1970s. The reading circle aims to examine the relationship between humans and machines, touching on themes of memory, identity, care, and technological power—central concerns in Miao Ying's artistic practice.
