Belinda Stewart Architects to Preserve Frank Lloyd Wright's Fountainhead in Jackson

The Mississippi Museum of Art has selected Belinda Stewart Architects to lead a major preservation project for Fountainhead, a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Jackson, Mississippi. Completed in 1954 for J. Willis Hughes, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Architect Robert Parker Adams lived in and restored the home for nearly half a century; he listed it for sale in June 2025 and passed away that July. The museum acquired Fountainhead in November 2025, inspired by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art's acquisition of the Bachman-Wilson House. Belinda Stewart Architects, in collaboration with curator Jennifer Baughn, will prepare a historic structure report, including condition assessment, digital modeling, and a prioritized treatment plan. The project involves structural repairs, landscape rehabilitation, and accessibility modifications for the building's new use as a museum and event venue. Diagnostic work begins immediately, with a public opening expected in 2028. The effort aims to forge the museum's connection with Jackson, as noted by director Betsy Bradley.
