Belén Mazuecos Examines Art World Osmosis at Sala El Brocense

Sala de Arte El Brocense in Cáceres presents 'Ósmosis', a solo exhibition by Granada-born artist Belén Mazuecos, running from June 19 to September 12, 2026. The show is part of her ongoing research project 'Apuntes para una etnografía del mundo del arte', which critically analyzes the contemporary art system through an anthropological lens. Mazuecos uses the scientific concept of osmosis as a metaphor for the mutual influences and transformations among artists, institutions, and cultural agents. Her black-and-white drawings and paintings feature recurring motifs such as panda bear figures carrying art packing boxes, symbolizing the fragility of artists and the complex relationships within the art ecosystem. The exhibition questions originality and presents art as a space of continuous exchange. Mazuecos, a professor of painting at the University of Granada with a PhD in Fine Arts and degrees in Fine Arts and Social and Cultural Anthropology, has previously shown at institutions like La Madraza, Centro de Arte Alcobendas, and Krakowskie Forum Kultury. Her work is held in collections including the University of Granada, Fundación Gregorio Prieto, and Diputación Provincial de Cáceres. The exhibition is supported by the Diputación de Cáceres.
