Beijing's AGI Bar Offers Free AI Tokens with Every Drink

In Beijing's Zhongguancun tech district, often referred to as China's Silicon Valley, the AGI Bar is drawing in patrons by providing complimentary tokens for AI models with each drink they buy. Since its launch in June of the previous year, the bar allows guests to access various AI models, including a locally operated DeepSeek-V4-Flash on two Nvidia DGX Spark computers, at no cost. According to manager Yang Yuan, customers need to order a drink and install a plug-in on their laptops to connect to the bar's AI agent, which then issues free tokens. The bar's popular AGI beer is available for only 9.9 yuan (US$1.47), and it features over a dozen beverage options. Its walls showcase logos and merchandise from prominent Chinese AI firms like Alibaba Group Holding and Tencent Holdings, symbolizing its focus on artificial general intelligence, a theoretical form of AI that could rival human abilities. Yang refrained from sharing details about monthly token usage, stating that the owner absorbs the expenses. On a recent evening, the bar was bustling with customers using laptops, many of whom accessed the in-house Wi-Fi to set up AI agents and redeem their free tokens after placing their orders.
