Before Our Eyes: Group Exhibition at Z33 Explores the Politics of Looking

exhibition · 2026-03-25

Z33 in Hasselt presents 'Before Our Eyes', a group exhibition curated by Tim Roerig featuring 11 international artists. The show interrogates the act of witnessing in an era of overwhelming visual documentation, questioning how images of crisis can be engaged without becoming spectacle. Works include Angharad Williams's silent video 'Solo Performance' (2025), Rabih Mroué's 'Black Boxes' (2006–16) using newspaper collages, Marianne Berenhaut's mirrored installation 'À chacun sa taille' (1971–73), Mohammed Sami's painting 'Emotional Home' (2024), Rosalind Nashashibi's film 'Electrical Gaza' (2015–16), and Hamishi Farah's 'Lot's Wife' (2025) referencing the Dead Sea. The exhibition runs until 23 August.
