Becoming Led Zeppelin: Official Documentary Premieres on Sky Arte

The official documentary film 'Becoming Led Zeppelin' will premiere on Sky Arte on Wednesday, August 26. Directed by Bernard MacMahon, the film aims to redefine the documentary genre by blending music and visuals in a style reminiscent of a musical. MacMahon stated that his goal was to interweave the individual stories of the band members before and after the band's formation, using music and imagery to narrate their history. The film utilizes over 70,000 manually restored frames from original film and negatives, and features fantasy sequences inspired by 'Singin' In The Rain', overlaying unseen live performances with photomontages of posters, tickets, and travels to recreate the frenzy of their early days. The band fully supported the project, which traces their rapid rise starting from the summer of 1968 when the four members first met to rehearse. The documentary, co-written and produced by Allison McGourty, offers intimate and exclusive commentary from the notoriously private band. The premiere is part of Sky Arte's programming, curated by Artribune.
