Becky Newsom and Scott Madison Explore Aluminum in 'Enigmatic Objects' at Andrew Durham Gallery, Houston

From September 12 to November 7, 2026, the Andrew Durham Gallery in Houston will host 'Enigmatic Objects,' an exhibition featuring the works of Becky Newsom and Scott Madison. This event is part of Glasstire's Five-Minute Tours and highlights how these artists utilize aluminum to merge the realms of painting and sculpture. Newsom's shaped paintings are crafted from plasma-cut aluminum, with canvas draped over the armature, while Madison designs boxes and cabinets from solid aluminum, incorporating rotating drawers and intricate patterns. Both artists push the boundaries of traditional mediums and functions, reinventing familiar shapes into mysterious objects. A video walkthrough is accessible in Glasstire's series, which also welcomes submissions from Texas galleries and artist-led spaces.
