Becca Panter's ReFrame Wardrobe Redefines Furniture for Transitory Living

architecture-design · 2026-10-04

Becca Panter, a graduate in Furniture and Product Design from Nottingham Trent University, developed ReFrame, a wardrobe intended for easy disassembly, resale, and reassembly. This project stemmed from a brief by Habitat and Vinted, during which Panter conducted interviews with 32 students to uncover their wardrobe-related grievances, highlighting flaws in standard designs. Constructed from 1.6 mm mild steel, ReFrame showcases an open sheet-metal framework with exposed assembly components, although a lighter 1.2 mm steel is preferred. It employs 16 identical M8 bolts for assembly without the use of adhesives or welding. This innovative design not only allows for reconfiguration but also acts as a backdrop for clothing resale photography, promoting sustainable, secondhand furniture practices.
