Beaulieu Vineyard Opens New Hospitality Center Designed by Signum Architecture and BAMO

Beaulieu Vineyard, a historic winery in Napa Valley established by Georges de Latour, has unveiled a new hospitality center crafted by Signum Architecture and BAMO, a San Francisco interior design firm. This two-year endeavor has repurposed 1880s twin-gabled stone structures along Highway 29 into a venue that includes tasting rooms, a culinary program, and historical displays. Visitors are welcomed by a life-size bronze statue of winemaker André Tchelistcheff, who transformed California winemaking after being hired by de Latour in 1938. The center features an archive of over 60,000 items shared with the University of California, Davis Library, showcasing a 1902 photo of phylloxera-affected vines and Georges de Latour's restored 1925 Cadillac Imperial. The architects restored original masonry by removing cinderblock additions, utilized reclaimed wood for ceilings, and added solar panels and EV chargers to target carbon neutrality by 2030. The Rutherford Atrium, once a fermentation hall, is now the main tasting area, adorned with a monumental tapestry by Alex Friedman. Chef Sam McKenzie leads the inaugural culinary program, emphasizing seasonal California ingredients paired with estate wines. According to senior winemaker and general manager Nate Weis, the new facility embodies the winery's dedication to excellence.
