Bea Bonafini's First Spanish Solo Show 'Intangible' at Vangar

Vangar gallery in Valencia presents 'Intangible', the first solo exhibition in Spain by German-born artist Bea Bonafini (Bonn, 1990). The show runs from May 22 to July 24, 2026. Bonafini's practice explores transformation through perceptual shifts, rejecting fixed categories in favor of flux and metamorphosis. The exhibition features works with titles like 'Ablaze', 'Air Unravelling', 'Becoming', 'Swallowing Earth', and 'Waters Ferment', which evoke birth, sexuality, death, and renewal as part of a continuous cycle. Her material investigation spans painting, textile, sculpture, and collage, using cork, wood, cotton from old domestic textiles, carpets, recycled fabrics, ceramics, oil, pastel, acrylic, and watercolor pencil. Layered surfaces and tactile assemblages suggest matter constantly reorganizing and evolving, with figures emerging from ancient particle movement. Inspired by writings of Emanuele Coccia, Ocean Vuong, and Octavio Paz, the exhibition imagines existence as relational and porous, dissolving boundaries between animal, vegetable, and anthropomorphic forms. In a time of conflict and polarization, 'Intangible' proposes art as a space for connection and expanded sensitivity, reminding viewers of their inseparability from a broader ecosystem.
