Bayeux Tapestry Returns to England for Landmark British Museum Exhibition

The British Museum in London will host the Bayeux Tapestry, an embroidered depiction of the Norman Conquest measuring 70 meters, from 10 September 2026 to 11 July 2027. This will be its first return to England in nearly a millennium. Anticipating one million visitors, initial ticket sales sold out within a day, raising £2.5 million. Notable attendees will include King Charles III, Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and President Emmanuel Macron. Guests will have a 40-minute window to view the tapestry, which will be showcased flat in a specially designed cabinet. The exhibition is estimated to cost between £5 million and £10 million, with £5 million sponsored by Igor Tulchinsky and an insurance valuation of £800 million.
