Basque Farm Renovation by zU-studio Preserves Original Character
zU-studio has completed the renovation of a historic Basque farmhouse, transforming it from a multi-family dwelling into a single-family home. The project, led by architect Javier Zubiria Gallastegui, is located on a hilltop in the Basque Country. The original 23 × 23 meter square footprint, divided into four equal quarters for four families, has been reimagined while preserving the structure's character. The 1111 m² renovation, completed in 2026, involved technical architect Lander Arregui, structural engineering by INAK, and construction by Koldo Kerejeta. Photographs by Pedro Pegenaute document the project, which falls under residential architecture, renovation, and sustainability categories.
