Basic.Space Brings 50 Avant-Garde Chairs to Christie's Beverly Hills

Basic.Space, a platform for collectible design, is curating '50 Chairs at Christie's' at Christie's Beverly Hills from September 25–30, 2026, by appointment. The exhibition brings together 50 chairs from the 20th century to contemporary works, all available for purchase. Notable pieces include a rare calfskin edition of Charles and Ray Eames' LCW (2002, from the Eames Foundation), a hammered-brass chair by Philippe Hiquily (1970s, from Kelly Wearstler's collection), and Joe Colombo's Elda Chair (1963, contributed by Eric Wareheim). Contemporary works include Rick Owens' Stag Stool (black plywood with moose antler), Sam Klemick's Trumpet Dining Chair, and SeungJin Yang's Lounge Chair 01 – Transparent Blue (balloons fixed in resin, from The Future Perfect). The exhibition also features pieces from collectors Giampiero Tagliaferri and Adrien Dewulf (CL9 ribbon chair). Basic.Space founder and CEO Jesse Lee emphasized discovery as central to the company's approach. The event follows Basic.Space's acquisitions of Design Miami and Platform, expanding its presence in the design market. The show highlights the range of chair design, from classic to experimental, in a formal setting.
