Bartolo+Contré Completes 5,000 m² Multidisciplinary Health Center in Bordeaux

architecture-design · 2026-09-23

Bartolo+Contré has designed the Centre de santé multidisciplinaire Dunant, a 5,000 m² health facility in Bordeaux, France, scheduled for completion in 2026. The project, curated by Nina Vuga, was conceived as an architectural response to the ongoing transformation of the healthcare sector, in which medical practice is becoming increasingly collaborative. Rather than following the traditional model of isolated consulting rooms and technical facilities, the building's spatial layout is intended to actively encourage cooperation, well-being, and new forms of outpatient care. Eric Bartolo served as principal architect, with Sandrine Iratcabal credited for photography. The project team included general contractors Medicina Santé Group and GCC Aquitaine, BTP Consultants for other engineering and consulting services, DEFRETIN INGENIERIE for structural engineering, and ATELIER DE L'OURCQ for landscape architecture. CS Coelho da Silva supplied products and brands used in the project. The scheme falls under the category of architecture for health and health centers, and its design brief frames architecture as a means of moving beyond conventional clinical typologies toward spaces that support multidisciplinary medical practice.
