BarrioBohrer Designs Bakko Restaurant in Madrid with Japanese-Inspired Sensory Experience

BarrioBohrer has finalized Bakko, a Japanese dining venue located on López de Hoyos street in Madrid, which emphasizes sensory experiences through its use of controlled lighting and contrasting materials. Spanning 70 square meters, the project was completed in a three-month timeframe and incorporated elements from the prior establishment. A refurbished metal bar and bespoke furniture embody a practical design that remains cohesive. Subdued lighting casts shadows that highlight the materials, while technical systems and decorative elements create vibrant scenes. The chosen materials include dark-stained woods, stone, metal, lacquers, and enamels, with microcement providing a seamless finish for walls and ceilings. This blend of absorption and reflection seeks to reinterpret Japanese tradition within a modern space for contemplation. Photography was done by Germán Saiz.
