Baró Opens Paris Space with Lygia Clark Show

Baró gallery has inaugurated its new Paris location with 'Lygia Clark / Anatomie d’une Ligne,' an exhibition dedicated to the Brazilian artist (1920–1988). Curated by Rolando J. Carmona, the show highlights Clark's pivotal shift in Paris toward participatory and sensory objects, culminating in her 'structuration du self' protocol for borderline personality disorder patients. Key works include 'Rede de elásticos' (1974), a collaborative elastic net, and 'Bicho – Carruagem Fantástica' (1960), an early example of her articulated metal 'Bichos' series. The exhibition also features rare preparatory studies in balsa wood and tape, alongside series 'Espaço Modulado' (1958) and 'Plano em superfície modulada' (1957), which mark her departure from concrete art. A mediation program reactivated Clark's Paris experiments with Sorbonne students, a panel at Maison de l'Amérique latine, and a conversation on anthropophagy and collective body.
