Barcelona Gallery Marks 90 Years of Abstraction-Creation with Group Show
From June 18 to July 31, 2026, the Galería Marc Domènech in Barcelona will showcase 'Abstraction-Création. Art non-figuratif (1932-1936)' to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Abstraction-Creation group's disbandment. Established on February 15, 1931, in Meudon, France, by Théo van Doesburg, the group included notable figures such as Jean Arp, Wassily Kandinsky, and Piet Mondrian. It published five issues of a journal between 1932 and 1936 and organized exhibitions close to Pablo Picasso's home. Excluding artists like Alberto Giacometti due to its non-figurative stance, the group disbanded in 1936, coinciding with the emergence of the American Abstract Artists and leaving a significant impact on the US art landscape. The exhibition will feature approximately 400 artists.
