Barbara Bush's Brooklyn Pollinator Garden: A Wild Urban Oasis

Barbara Bush, the daughter of ex-President George W. Bush, has established a pollinator garden in her Brooklyn backyard following her relocation from Texas. She and her spouse, actor Craig Coyne, purchased the property during the pandemic. The yard, which was previously an empty space used as an artist's studio, motivated Bush to create a naturalistic garden, drawing inspiration from her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush. She enlisted landscape designer Nathalie Danilovich, who designed a low-maintenance garden featuring woodland granite pavers and perennial plant beds. Additionally, a woven willow sun canopy by artist Howard Peller enhances the area. Two summers later, the garden now attracts bees and butterflies, providing an outdoor retreat for Bush and her children.
