Baobab-inspired floating waterfall power plant proposed for Madagascar

The project addresses the island's severe energy shortages, which leave most of the population without electricity and contribute to economic hardship and overcrowded prisons. The structure is inspired by the native baobab tree, a national symbol, and features a central multi-story hub with transparent greenhouses for agricultural training. A massive circular marine system funnels ocean water into subterranean turbines to generate renewable electricity, while a pressure-resistant glass dome beneath the surface offers views of coral reefs. The complex is initially designed as a rehabilitative facility for inmates, with plans to transition into a public eco-resort and green energy hub as societal conditions improve.
