Banu Cennetoğlu Inflates All 30 Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at KANAL-Centre Pompidou

exhibition · 2026-10-10

For the first time, all thirty articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are presented together as golden balloon letters in Banu Cennetoğlu's exhibition 'right?' at KANAL-Centre Pompidou in Brussels. The Turkish artist suspends the inflated letters in bouquets within the showroom, evoking a birthday celebration. Over the months, the balloons gradually deflate, causing the phrases to sag, while the question mark in the title alone poses what these rights still weigh. The installation is on free view from 28 November 2026 to 23 May 2027 at Square Sainctelette 21, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. Opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday 11am–7pm, with late-night opening on Thursday until 10pm. Admission is free. The work invites visitors to reflect on the enduring value of human rights as the physical letters lose their form.
