Bangarra's 'Sheltering' triptych premieres at Arts Centre Melbourne
Bangarra Dance Theatre unveiled their triptych titled 'Sheltering' at the Arts Centre Melbourne, featuring three distinct performances. The segment 'Keeping Grounded', choreographed by Glory Tuohy-Daniell, was first seen at 2023's Dance Clan and addresses the theme of disconnection from one's roots, using a significant net created by Shana O'Brien. Another piece, 'Brown Boys', co-directed by Daniel Mateo and Cass Mortimer Eipper, will appear in 2024's Dance Clan, blending performance and spoken word, with designs by Elizabeth Gadsby. The ensemble will be honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at this year's Venice Biennale Danza in July. Performances continue until June 27 in Melbourne, before moving to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre from July 9 to 18.
