Bang & Olufsen and Kvadrat unveil nature-inspired Woolscape fabric for Beosound A9

Bang & Olufsen has deepened its partnership with Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat by introducing a new edition of its Beosound A9 speaker, now upholstered in a bespoke fabric called Woolscape. The material was developed by Kvadrat's knitted textile brand, Kvadrat Febrik, in collaboration with the Swedish design studio Front, founded by Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren. The design draws inspiration from Swedish fauna, particularly the colors of forests and lakes, with Front creating a visual archive of natural textures and forms that were translated into a durable double-knitted upholstery textile with a tapestry-like surface. The fabric's appearance changes with lighting conditions, adding depth and variation. Bang & Olufsen and Kvadrat worked together to adapt the weave for acoustic performance, balancing yarn density with sound transparency. The speaker also receives a new Sienna Brown finish on its rear dish and aluminum legs, which pairs with the Woolscape fabric in Mineral Red. Additional cover options include Black Anthracite, Gold Tone, and Natural Aluminium. The product is available from select Bang & Olufsen stores and online. Kresten Bjørn Krab-Bjerre, Senior Director of Design at Bang & Olufsen, emphasized the dialogue between color, material, and form, while Renee Mercks, Creative Director at Kvadrat Febrik, noted the fabric's ability to change with its surroundings, fostering a sense of discovery and connection to nature.
