Balenciaga Artean Debuts with Eduardo Chillida Works in Milan

During Milan Design Week, Balenciaga launched Balenciaga Artean, a new cultural initiative exploring the intersection of art, fashion, and creative disciplines. The debut edition presents seven works by Eduardo Chillida (1924–2002) at the Balenciaga flagship on Via Montenapoleone. The exhibition includes direct homages to Cristóbal Balenciaga, such as Homenaje a Balenciaga and Gravitación. Homenaje a Balenciaga. Mikel Chillida, the artist's grandson and Director of Chillida Leku, discussed the friendship between the two Basque masters and the significance of the Basque word 'artean,' meaning 'between.' The exhibition highlights shared values of rigor, silence, and respect for craft, and places Chillida's sculptures and works on paper among Balenciaga's contemporary collections.
