Backbone Branding's TeaGether Packaging Turns Confectionery Boxes into Miniature Tea Tables

architecture-design · 2026-09-10

TeaGether, a packaging design developed by Backbone Branding, a studio located in Yerevan, transforms confectionery boxes into small pieces of dining furniture. This initiative delves into the shared rituals of teatime, highlighting how people from diverse cultures come together over warm tea, despite their unique confectionery customs. Each box features slender wooden legs, mimicking a banquet table, while the lid resembles a draped tablecloth adorned with decorative trims. Creative director Stepan Azaryan and illustrator Mariam Stepanyan infused each regional edition with authentic cultural elements, including unique teapots and regional textiles. Inside, modular compartments establish a tasting hierarchy, complemented by playful typography and organized ingredient lists. The packaging employs uncoated natural paperboard, soft pastel colors, and detailed illustrations, with animator Sahak Zarbabyan and photographer Suren Manvelyan documenting the project on Behance.
