Bacco Arquitetos Associados Designs Glulam Airport Terminal in Ribeirão Preto

architecture-design · 2026-09-04

Bacco Arquitetos Associados, a Brazilian architectural firm, has revealed its design for the Doutor Leite Lopes State Airport, a 10,840-square-meter project expected to be finished by 2026. Situated in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, the terminal aims to serve as a vibrant urban space rather than just a transit hub, fostering connections with the local community. The structure will utilize Glued Laminated Timber (glulam), minimizing its carbon footprint and reflecting the area's agro-industrial heritage. Leading the project are architects Marcelo Barbosa and Julio Cesar Corbucci, with Laura Poggio and Micael Dambros overseeing coordination. The design team includes Debora Bueno, Edson Maruyama, and others, while VG Landscape handles landscaping. Engineering support comes from multiple firms, and the project features contributions from various manufacturers. Susanna Moreira curated the initiative, originally published in Portuguese, which reimagines the airport as a social gathering space.
