Avellaneda's Centro de Experimentación Audiovisual: Adaptive Reuse of an Oil Factory

architecture-design · 2026-08-26

In Avellaneda, Argentina, the Centro de Experimentación Audiovisual (CEA) is a newly established cultural venue, crafted by the Dirección General de Arquitectura, Secretaría de Planificación, and Municipalidad de Avellaneda. This initiative transforms a former oil factory into a 1,430 square meter municipal archive aimed at preserving, restoring, and sharing audiovisual heritage. Instead of merely restoring the site, the architects, led by Alan Rodrigo Fischer and Guillermo Bruno Pesce, viewed the project as an opportunity to revitalize the industrial space. The construction, managed by FIEM S.A., is expected to finish in 2026. Key materials were sourced from Knauf, Aluar, AutoDesk, Dott.Gallina Arcowall®, Isover, VASA, and Yarlux. Valentina Díaz curated the project, with Federico Cairoli capturing its design through photography.
