Avelino Sala Leads Workshop on Artist as Chronicler at CentroCentro

CentroCentro in Madrid will host a workshop titled 'El artista como cronista de nuestro tiempo' (The Artist as Chronicler of Our Time), led by artist Avelino Sala. The course, scheduled for September 18-19, 2026, will explore the role of the artist as a spectator, witness, and chronicler of contemporary times. Participants will examine how artistic practice can engage with social change without exceeding symbolic boundaries, and will discuss the balance between content and aesthetics. The workshop will take place in the Sala Sigfrido Martín Begué at CentroCentro, with sessions on Friday from 16:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 10:30 to 14:30. Attendance is limited to 15 places, with tickets priced at 30 euros, available for purchase on the CentroCentro website. The course is part of CentroCentro's public program and aims to address questions about the artist's function in today's context, including whether artists are communicators or activists.
