Avdar Artist Residency Launches in Gobi Desert with Five Mongolian Artists
Five artists from Mongolia have been chosen to take part in the new Avdar Artist Residency Program, a collaboration between the Arts Council of Mongolia and Three Camel Lodge in the Gobi Desert. This retreat lasts several weeks and is situated near Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park, where artists can find inspiration in the stunning scenery and connect with guests through workshops. The featured artists are B. Tserendejid, who specializes in watercolor and ceramics; M. Erdenebayar, known for his reinterpretation of traditional symbols; painter T. Soyol-Erdene; cyanotype artist Kh. Suren; and felt artist B. Bayanduuren. They will stay in traditional gers at the lodge, and an exhibition of their work will open in October 2026 before moving to the Red Ger Gallery. Ogie Odonchimed, the Executive Director of the Arts Council, emphasized the importance of such residencies for fostering creativity and visitor interaction.
