Autoforma Audi TTS Restomod: Niels van Roij Design Reimagines a Classic

Niels van Roij Design's Autoforma sub-brand has launched a distinctive restomod version of the first-gen Audi TTS, commissioned by Dutch designer Jos Baijens. This project follows their earlier Autoforma Norrsken, which reimagined the Volvo P1800ES. The new model highlights a convertible version of the sporty design that debuted as a concept in 1995 and went into production in 1998, with the Roadster arriving in 1999. Autoforma utilized coachbuilding techniques to bring the production model closer to the original concept, featuring reworked bumpers, a redesigned rear deck, and a fixed roof for a true roadster feel. Modifications also include a rear spoiler, new side vents, racing mirrors, enhanced suspension, and a two-tone paint job. Inside, the hand-stitched tan leather pays homage to the 1995 design. Baijens, an interior architect and eyewear designer, worked closely with Autoforma, aiming for a refined, sophisticated result that echoes the Bauhaus-inspired concept.
