Aurélien Bory Stages Dowland's Lachrimae at Cité de la Musique with Thibaut Garcia and Aure Wachter
Aurélien Bory brings his new production Sept larmes pour Élisabeth to the Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris for two performances only, on 19 and 20 November 2026 at 20h, each lasting roughly one hour. The piece is built on John Dowland's Lachrimae, seven pavanes composed at the court of Elizabeth I to express melancholy. Bory constructs a space that flows, because tears flow, and gives the stage its own physics, as he consistently does, leaving the performers to struggle within it. The dialogue at the centre of the evening sets the guitar of Thibaut Garcia against the singing body of Aure Wachter. The venue is located at 221 avenue Jean-Jaurès, 75019 Paris, reachable via Métro Porte de Pantin on line 5. The production also appears in the publication's selection of new shows.
