Audrey Large: 3D-Printed Objects That Blur the Line Between Screen and Matter
Audrey Large, a French designer hailing from Toulouse and currently residing in the Netherlands, crafts objects that appear to originate from an alternate reality, merging elements of sculpture and simulation. In 2017, she earned her degree in Social Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven, where her thesis project, Life.VFX, manipulated everyday items through 3D scanning and motion capture techniques. In 2019, she participated as a designer in residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, where she worked on the Implicit Surfaces series. Large received the Dutch Design Award in 2021 and was honored with the Emerging Designer title at the Dezeen Awards in 2023. Her forthcoming project, Hot Dipped: The Frog and the Sacrificial Skin, investigates industrial methods via metal 3D printing and hot-dip galvanization.
