Atrium Architekti Renovates KOSMALT Dormitory in Košice
Atrium Architekti has completed the renovation of KOSMALT, originally the largest worker dormitory of the VSŽ steel plant in Košice, built in the 1960s by architects Ladislav Greč and Róbert Kandrík. The building's name refers to a type of enameled steel produced by the local steelworks. Located in the Terasa housing estate, its distinctive silhouette and facade make it a dominant urban element. The project covers 15,625 m² with a built area of 1,695 m² on a 3,700 m² plot. The team includes Michal Burák, Dušan Burák, Jana Varchola Buráková, Tomáš Eisner, Matúš Gomolčá, Erik Duhaň, Michal Varga, Štefan Petkanič, and Erik Špak. Photographs by Matej Hakár.
